    Post WinTV-HVR-4400

    Hi,

I am thinking of going with this card on Linux; it states this is a quad channel therefore via this card I will have 4 channels running. Is this correct?

Secondly, it is not clear to me but I take it that I can get Freeview and Freeview HD channels via this card through connecting to my sky satellite connection (I do not have sky anymore). Is this also correct?

I am aware that this card has been configured with Linux and will cross that bridge as we go.

Anyone can advise on the above items?

No, that is not correct. This device had two tuners. One can do Analog or DVB-T. The other does DVB-S or DVB-S2. You can be recording from both at the same time.

You can do Freeview HD via satellite with this card. You cant do Freeview HD via DVB-T2, since this card doesn't support T2.

This card has a DVB-T and DVB-S/S2 so to be clear you cannot view Freeview HD as it does not have a DVB-T2 tuner, you CAN view Freeview HD channels via Satellite (Freesat HD).

Also I am not certain if there are any Linux drivers available for this card.

I know there are for the PCTV Nanostick 290e Freeview HD: http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/DVB-T2_USB_Devices and the HVR 4000: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.ph...WinTV-HVR-4000 and the NOVA HD-S2: http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.ph...nTV-NOVA-HD-S2 PCI cards.

Thanks for the info - great clarifications.

So there is no basis to then buy the WinTV-HVR-4400 as I am only interested in the satellite side.

Then it makes sense for me to go with the WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2 methinks ...........unless there are any objections?
