Default Getting Ready for the Olympics

A lot of new olympic channels have been added to the Freesat channels as you can see here :

    http://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?que...ics&Submit=Zap

Mr X, Any chance of you giving us an updated satellites.xml?

Also is there a way for us to check when you last updated the file so we can depend on it if we re-install windows?

I've had a go myself if people want to check/try it.

    https://dl.dropbox.com/u/998933/sat-with-olympics.xml

I've stuck all the latest HD channels in there as well as the SD and HD olympic channels.

Just gonna try it myself as I've just installed Win8. So I'll post back if it works fine (It didn't show any warnings or errors when I imported it so that's a good sign )

Well the SD stuff works but I can't see the HD channels (get no signal quality showing so obviously it doesn't see the channels) can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong with the entries?

For example, the first set of HD Olympic channels...

What I put in the xml file :

    <transponder frequency="11914000" symbol_rate="29500000" polarization="H" fec_inner="3/4" broadcast_type="DVB-S2" modulation="QPSK" pilot="-1" rolloff="35"></transponder>
From the King of Sat site :

It all looks right to me, so why doesn't it work? Mr X? Care to educate me/us? (Could it be because I'm using Windows 8? Although a couple of the HD channels work, i.e. Channel 4 HD)

EDIT : Got all my Olympic SD channels ready (All 24 of them plus the main channel makes 25) but of course I want to try to get the HD ones too!!

Give this a try. Works on my NOVA-HD-USB2.

    They are channels 78xx

We'll add some logic to rename them to the Olympic names in the next release (the stream doesn't have this right now)

    Thanks!!

Just to check.. Do these include the other HD channels too and any reason why they wouldn't work on Windows 8? (Like the entries being elsewhere in the registry or something) ?

EDIT : They don't seem to work, please don't tell me I need to scrub my Media Center?

Are you talking about in Windows 8 MCE or Windows 7 MCE?

If you are using a NOVA-HD-S2 then you'll need to run the tool to import the registry entries for these new channels, then manually scan them in MCE.

I'm not sure if this is related to my problems threads...but:-

I have re-run the DVB patch tool wit the latest xml file in this thread, however I am only finding about half the HD channels.

On king of sat they are listed under 5 groups:-

    http://en.kingofsat.net/find.php?que...ics&Submit=Zap

My tuner (the original DVB-S2 one) immediately finds the 2nd 4th and 6th Groups i.e. frequencies:-
    12129
    12402
    12441

Note these are all the groups that have vertical polarisation BUT i am changing the polarisation to the right value for the horizontal groups.

Could this indicate a problem with my LNB or some such? Is that why I am getting patchy/weird channel behaviour? It is a single line sky dish that has probably been up for 5-6 years at least.

very grateful for any tips on how to troubleshoot this.

Finally sorted out my HD channels, for anyone in the same boat ENSURE you do your setup as follows :

1] Download the latest drivers from the Hauppauge site, THE BUILT IN WINDOWS DRIVERS WILL NOT LET YOU WATCH HD
    2] Unzip the Hauppauge drivers
3] Because Windows will probably have installed it's own drivers automatically use the hcwclear.exe program to completely remove the windows drivers
    4] Restart
5] Install the drivers you downloaded from Hauppauge (even if Windows tried to put it's own drivers in again)
    6] Restart
7] Run the MCEDVBS2PatchTool.exe tool and use the satellites.xml from above (Just delete the rest of the url in the dialog box so it just says "satellites.xml", this way it will look in the same folder for the file.
    8] Restart
9] Run your MCE Live TV Setup
10] Using the following site set up the rest of your HD channels (and any which are incorrect)

    All Channels : http://en.kingofsat.net/pos-28.2E.php
