Default How To Install without DVD Drive?

Just got my PC back from repair, and the CD/DVD Drive button doesn't work, nor is the drive showing-up in My Computer. This isn't such a big problem, except for my need to use WinTV7. If I recall correctly it needs the CD present in the drive to install the drivers and WinTV7 software, as well as any time you update the WinTV7 software in the future.

I don't really fancy the idea of sending the PC back for another month-long repair, nor purchasing a £40 external DVD Drive. Is there another way to install the software? I'm sure if I looked on the CD or in my paperwork I could provide some kind of serial number to prove I have purchased the CD legally, if needed.

Is there anyone that you can borrow a external CD/DVD drive from ? It does mention on the box that a minimum requirement is a CD drive for software installation.

No one I could borrow one off. It's either £40 at the shop to purchase a new external CD/DVD drive, or tomorrow I go digging in my parent's attic for an old CD/DVD Burner I used to have, which may or may not be buried under lots of other stuff. Or, of course, I send the PC back for further repairs, which would be a pain to do as I've already been without it for about a month.

At the moment I'm sorta hoping I can copy the contents of my installation CD to an iso, and mount the iso to a virtual cd drive, and install it that way.

Well, that didn't work. At least I know how to mount a virutal CD drive using an .iso file if I ever need to in the future. I just hope to god that when if I find my old CD-DVD Burner/or I go out and buy a USB slim external CD-DVD Drive, that it lets me install from the original installation CD.

I had a real tough time getting it installed the last time, on a laptop. I'm pretty sure that if I recall correctly, the installation CD wouldn't work for some odd reason, so I had to install WinTV7 2.6d cold whilst the original installation CD was in the tray to make things work.

Found my CD/DVD Burner and it worked, so I attempted to install via the Installation CD I have. Installed the drivers and attempted to install WinTV, and the installer told me that the USB-Live-2 capture wire wasn't inserted into the PC and that setup would now close. Of course the USB-Live-2 was plugged-into the PC, I was even able to find it in Device Manager under Sound, Video, Game Controllers and update the driver. After updating the driver there, I was told to restart my PC. Got the PC loaded-up again and re-tried the installation CD method, still said my USB-Live-2 was not attached to the PC. This is very strange, because of course it has recognized the wire being connected to my PC in the past.

Downloaded the WinTV2.5d update, ran that, installed WinTV from that (and now that I have my DVD Burner it was able to use it's DRM to see that the installation CD was sat in the disc drive), and this time it worked fine. Now I just have to set Game Mode, restart the PC, apply the GenUSB Patch, restart the PC to get rid of "No Signal" and "Green Screen" issues. And I might then be back asking for help in getting the aspect ratio problem fixed if I cannot find the settings.xml file (as seen here: http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/forum/sho...ot-option-gone ).

You can force the aspect ratio for analogue signals in the WinTV 7 cd 2.5d download so you should be good to go,
