    Default Hauppauge TVServer

What can I do with it? Would like to stream content to another application. What are the options please and how to proceed if possible?

'Hauppauge TV Server' is really an internal component, used for managing devices and recordings in the background.

If you're using version of WinTV which includes 'WinTV Extend' (like those versions on CD from the web store, or shipped with several of our devices) you can use this for streaming from other applications. For example, in VLC you can access a channel's video streams by opening http://127.0.0.1:7799/stream?channel=<channel#>. You can even use this approach for viewing across the network from another machine.

It depends - lots of devices came with it anyway, if yours didn't it's still there as an option if you need this functionality. As much as I wish we could give it to everyone, at the end of the day it costs us money for you to install it (licensing costs etc) so we cant give it to everyone - some people have the cost of it built into the price of the device they bought, others dont but we make available to buy separately if they want need it. The cost is minimal and pretty much only covers the licensing costs + media.

If you've got Extend, you'll have a tab for it in your Settings screen.

It was mainly supplied with devices that needed H.264 support, so really it depends what country you're in.
