    The bit I'm still a bit confused about is what cables we need whether we use extra devices or not, because if the Xbox connects to PVR using the Xbox 360 AV component cable (red/green/blue) with switch set to HD I still need a cable to connect from PVR to TV, so should this be Component to component? as we tried using a Component to HDMI and couldn't get to work.

    If you use component cable from Xbox does this mean you have to use component into TV?

    Yeah you have to use component to the tv.

    The reason hdmi wont work without a proper convertor (a cable wont do) is because component is analog and hdmi is digital.
