I just tried myself and getting the same error, same with the cd image! None of my older images are working, so i'm not too sure what's up. I'll get another image from the engineer tomorrow <he's off today>.
Btw, did you try the latest drivers from the US site? HD-PVR 1.7.1.30059

hdpvr_1.5.7.0
hdpvr_1.6.29353
hdpvr_1.7.30059
OK, spoken with the engineer and those drivers won't work with the HD PVR GE or the F1 versions of the standard HD-PVR.
He had a look at the video of your flicker and wasn't sure what it could be <after i explained the steps you went through> He did mention interference from the PC itself, which I wasn't sure if you had eliminated, i.e. Tried the setup on another PC.

yes, I tried it on my netbook (quite powerful) with the same result. I might have the chance to try it on a decent notebook soon, but I think it'll have the same issue. During the week I should also get my xbox back to try it with.
the german tech help advised me to get an exchange device as it seems to be most likely a hardware issue. they seemed quite clueless so that's just a standard answer.
so finally my xbox came back today. immediately set it up and captured a short file....
as you can see NO FLICKER. that means the hauppauge has some issues with the ps3 in my case. Now I'm unsure whether to keep the hauppauge as I intended to use my Xbox for capturing mainly or not, since for that price I kinda want a properly working device that works with ALL my consoles...
I still hope that we can find a solution for the PS3... this problem is happening frequently as far as I have seen it during my research (as I mentioned). Could Hauppauge look into this issue and find a software solution to it? there is a "Power Line Frequency" option that is grayed out that could might solve the issue altogether.
Btw does the flicker not occur at 480p [PS3] it seems, but as soon as I select anything higher it starts to flicker.
