I bought the hauppauge hd pvr a good 2 years back and it had a horrendous flickering and corruption//tearing problem. tried everything to no avail, eventually returned it.
So with the release of the hauppauge hd pvr gaming edition, a new pc and 2 years of driver development I wanted to give it another shot: FLICKERING. the tearing is gone, the tv picture is fine as well, but the preview and recording (which is also out of sync with the audio for some reason) have this flickering issue.
O M G. I was so disappointed. Literally tried everything: changed the component cables, used older drivers (1.6), newest beta drivers (1.7), different versions of Thowbiz, another pc, plugged the hauppauge into its own power point, tried different usb ports, changed all device settings (ntsc/pal etc), changed resolution of the ps3 to 720p, 1080i etc and varous more. nothing worked...

If I don't get help here, I'll prolly need to sent it back again... I really want it to work, so please I appreciate any help.
Spec:
HD PVR 4901
Win 7x64
I5-2500k Quad Core
8 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 TI
All drivers / windows are up-to-date
Did you check your component cables (PS3, TV) and can you swap them for another set? Only thing I can think that may be providing that flickering issue.
Edit: I forgot to mention as well if you can switch out the USB cable for another one.

both component cable work flawlessly straight with the tv.
I only have that one usb cable. would be rather strange if it's at fault tho. I can't lose the feeling thinking that the refresh rate is the problem somehow.

It could be considering you only get the problem when your previewing and recording. I would try switching it out and see.
