Default Crashing HVR 4400 with Windows 7 on Shuttle XPC

I have owned an HVR 4400 card for a while and have been using it with Windows Media Center. The card itself works fine and can scan and find the channels the problem however is I believe that its affecting system stability. My computer had the problem of freezing on boot/or at the desktop. I presumed this was a Windows fault - new hard disk and re installed Windows 7 (x64). The problem however repeated it self when I installed the drivers for the HVR 4400 and it freezes on boot and needs a hard reset from the power switch before booting. I disabled the card from system manager and do not have this problem any more - however this means I can't use my card. I believe this is a driver fault wit the card which is causing this and would appreciate any help - as disabling the card and enabling it just to watch tv requires a restart and multiple crashes/freezes on boot.
I have gone to the BIOS but the only option I have with the IRQ ist to set it to Reserve or PCI Device - if I set it to reserve the computer boots up fine and doesn't freeze but it doesn't solve the problem after cold boot - when the computer is off for a long time.

What driver version are you using?

Have you tried moving the card to a different pci-e slot to force irq change
