Default ts - mpg after interuption?

    WinTV v.7.0.29209 (CD2.4)
I have a 9Gb 110 min. 'ts' file on my hard drive as well as 1 Gb beginnings (14 min.) of the mpg conversion. I think my oops was putting my computer down to stand-by during the conversion process. Apparently, I interrupted the process.

The entire 'ts' file seems to be there, double clicking it opens WinTV which plays it from the beginning.

Is there a way I can force conversion to mpg?
How can I get this file on a disc which my wife can watch in the dvd-tv?

just run on the command line ts2ps recording.ts recording.mpg

The tool is in C:\program files\wintv\wintv7

VLC Media Player has a converter in it that will do what you want. It's free and a good media player too.

ffmpeg or format factory to convert files
    handbrake to compress
VideoReDo for quick edit-cuts and burn to DVD

What version of VideoReDo are you using for cutting Mpeg2 videos that WinTV creates?

The current version of VideoReDo, 4.20.7.637/April 10 2012, has a bug that renders it useless for processing Mpeg2 videos. DRD acknowledges the bug but hasn't fixed it yet. VideoReDo 4.20.7.637 can only handle H.264 encoded recordings like those output from HD-PVR/Colossus recordings.

I am using both the latest version and the beta VideoReDo. I don't have any problems cutting .ts, h.264, or .wtv files. I am not sure about .m2TS. Try the free trial version to see if it will cut your files...VideoReDo is the best I have found at QUICKLY rendering vids without re-encoding...and combining their Ad Detective with Comskip is a great way to auto-cut commercials. For comparison, my Adobe Premiere Pro is great for movie editing, but it re-encodes everything, so a 1 hr TV show cut to 45 min after commercials takes 25 min to encode...which defeats the purpose of saving time. VideReDo will render it in less than a minute.

Thanks for the reply. It turns out on Wednesday they released v638 of VideoRedo and fixed the mpeg2 bug. I think the bug only effected you if you WERE reencoding which I do to crop & adjust the aspect ratio.

There's a lot to like about VideoRedo. I DO use it to reencode and find the profiles invaluable because I can set parameters up for each TV station once and save them. I also like the robustness of the navigation aides. Makes moving around in the video stream quick & easy.

Re: VideoReDo beta 638f (Jun.19.2012)-- Dan203 posted a quick fix for the output profile list...I had to use it to get my output profiles back.

VRD is the best I have found in quickly cutting commercials from .wtv, .ts, and h.264 files...it does the job fast and the online forum support is great. VRD appears to be good for light re-encoding (such as audio sync shift by up to 1 sec, scene joiner, small title insertion, size output parameters, etc.)...but nothing like a real movie editor (Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro, etc.)...but that is not the point. I use Comskip (donor version) with VRD in a special app called VAP located in the VRD forums...try it out!

I also integrate VRD with Handbrake compression when I need to, which is great for DVD rendering.
