    Default Fatal Database Error

    Hi all

    Hope someone can help...

Experiencing problems with my install of WinTV 7, using the WinTV HVR1110 PCI card model with Vista Ultimate (SP2)

Suggestions tried from Hauppage colleagues today (Friday):

    Uninstall ALL related software
Turn off PC, remove WinTV card
    Reboot
    Re-Install software, run…

    No good

    Uninstall ALL related software
Turn off PC, remove WinTV card and swap to spare PCI slot – did so with Bluetooth card
    Reboot
    Re-Install software, run…

Still have exactly same problem as shown in image.

In both cases, new software requests original CD to be available – it is and is used.

Computer is custom-built approx 6years ago. Quad processor, 4GB RAM.

A support chap seemed to think my ODBC database is corrupt?

    Thanks for any assistance !

It does sound like some something has gone wrong with the database, or Window's data access components on your machine, but zip and attach your log.txt and I'll see if it offers any further clues.

Thanks, not entirely sure where I'd find the log files, but I've attached what I think...?

    Hi

Unable to generate logs for this problem as the WinTV program itself doesn't load. I've tried looking for the logs mentioned, but no success...

I would have thought it had made it far enough to generate a log.txt file.

Either way, I'm suspecting the problem is your Window's database access components are broken. I'm not sure exactly what you'd need to do to fix it though. In XP you could reinstall MDAC (Microsoft Database Access Components), but I'm not sure if you can do this on Vista/Win7.

Windows Data Access Components (Windows DAC) 6.0 is included in Windows Vista. It is not distributed separately and cannot be redistributed.
    Found this text: HERE

So only option left to fix a WDAC/MDAC problem in Vista, is to do a reinstall of your OS.

Thanks Yisc (I think), not the solution I wanted, but I seemed to stumble across the same things online...

You can do this SFC /SCANNOW in a CMD prompt(run as admin) and it will repair any damaged windows files.

    It may fix your issue.

    Hi Grayfox

That was the only thing I hadn't done, just completed it now, no joy unfortunately...

    Thanks.
