Still trying things to get this horrible thing working properly, or at least better. WinTv has been taking five minutes to load! and the EPG not much better especially with all the frezing and stuttering. I've been digging around the system files and came across the channel database. This file was 250meg on my system!! not surprising WinTV took so long to fire up. The was also a 'Compact' batch file in the folder and running that took the database down to a mere 100meg.

I went for a completed reinstall of 2.4c, uninstalling the current installation and blatting all the files left behind.

Bit of a pain setting favourites and recording folders etc. up, but the channel database is now 1meg and WinTV loads instantly. I've taken a copy of the database folder freshly initialised. I'll see what else it's cured and report back.

Think this needs fixing Mr Hauppauge!!

Default Re: Scheduler not working - complete reinstal

Day and a half later and things have been much much better.

Application fires up in ten seconds instead of four to five minutes, same for EPG. No 'No tuner availables' and just two picture freezes, interestingly on the same advert. These are easily sorted with a channel up/channel down. Scheduler has worked OK with correct result of one recording.

PC also seems to boot up quicker as I suppose the services/scheduler also had to load a 250meg database upon bootup.

Channel database is growing in size alarmingly, up to 30meg already. Shut the lot down and run EPG empty under advanced options appears to fix it.

CD 2.4f fixes some scheduler instabilities, a memory leak and some general scheduler issues. I've had my scheduler running since beggining of december without a single missed recording.

    I look forward to 2.4f (did I miss 2.4e?)

I'm still shutting the lot down and overwriting my chamnnel database folder with my copy of the folder from a fresh install every few days.

Things gave been far more stable and usable with just the odd freeze-up (cue to reinstall) and vey occasional no tuner available (which may be unrelated and just a USB power issue though power saving is disabled).
