2.4 does not change the port on the video stream
I noticed this in 2.4. You can change the port in setting and the web UI will use that new port but when you try to view it remotely you get a message that it cannot open the stream still on port 7799.

Re: 2.4 does not change the port on the video stream
Thank you for addressing this. I noticed in the change log that you can now stream to vlc, hopefully that will work on XBMC as well. Is there any chance in WinTV that we will be able to set our own recording settings (a custom profile) instead of using the set profiles? Also, is there a setting that we can set so that WinTV extend streams the AC-3 stream instead of transcoding it to 2 channel AAC?

Re: 2.4 does not change the port on the video stream
you can customise you profile by editing Extend.xml file.
I've not tried XBMC but i'd be interested in hearing.
BTW hold off installing 2.4b till later as there is an issue with Extend (just a minor build error) - I'm going to recompile the web download when I get an updated file.

I was referring to WinTV's recording settings not the transcoding settings for extend. It would be nice however to also know how to prevent the transcoding of the audio to AAC on the extend streams.

OK, any ETA when that will happen?

Re: 2.4 does not change the port on the video stream
If you use the VLC method it won't re-encode the stream at all, so will retain original audio/video. For streaming to apple/PC devices, it needs to be in AAC in order for audio to be played.
As soon as I get a recompiled exe file, I'll re-compile the web download. Hopefully before Monday.

How does WinTV determine that it is streaming to a VLC client? Is it looking for a User Agent or something? Just would like to know in case some creative XBMC plugin coding is required.

It doenst know it's streaming to VLC. It could be any playet. It just delivers the raw broadcast transport stream to any client that requests it, whether it's VLC or XMBC or other.
