Currently all Analogue recordings are recorded and marked as being in 4:3 format. Lots of Set Top Boxes or consoles output in 16:9. This results in the video being squashed into the 4:3 area and also gives problems when importing the video into 3rd party burning software.
This post describes how to force the header to be marked as 16:9 rather than 4:3.
SoftPVR Products (e.g. HVR8xxx, HVR-9xx, HVR-11xx, HVR-12xx, HVR14xx, HVR-3xxx, HVR-4xxx, HVR-5xxx, WinTV-USB-Live2, WinTV Impact VCB-PCIe)
Set the option in WinTV v7 under Configuration -> Capture
HardPVR Products (e.g. HVR-16xx, HVR17xx, HVR-18xx, HVR-19xx, HVR22xxx)
Set the following registry key:
HVR-16xx (Minimum driver required: 1.62.29035)
HVR-17xx and HVR-18xx (Minimum driver required: 1.48.29033)
HVR-19xx (Minimum driver required: 3.1.29010)
HVR-22xx (Minimum driver required: 22.214.171.124186)
Reboot the PC and all Analogue Recordings will be marked as native 16:9 format.
