    the same happens to be each time I download and install a new version, curiously it never happens that the popup displays a new version when I'm running an older one

    Sometimes if you download it quickly after it's been posted we wait a day or two before posting the auto update reminder (in case there are any minor issues missed by QA). So you download 2.4 and it checks against the version string on the server (Which is say 2.3f) it then stores 2.3f as the last checked version, so when we do post the auto update reminder it then compares and see's we posted 2.4 vs 2.3f stored in your XML file.

    It's just one of the reg keys that automatically gets seeded. I'll try and read the current value in for the next release before seeding it.
