Default WinTV7 Has Stopped Working - Windows 7 64 bit

All I want to do is to be able to watch TV. I have WinTV-HVR-950Q and it was working fine for months then my computer locked up (reason unknown though suspect windows update) and I've not been able to watch since. Ordered the CD for WinTV v7.2 and tried to install after uninstalling WinTV v7. During the installation I get several messages "WinTV Extender has stopped working", "WinTVTray has stopped working" and "WinTV 7 Rec has stopped working". Then I get a message that the installation completed successfully. When trying to start WinTV I get the message that "WinTV has stopped working". I did go out and get HCWClear and tried uninstalling using it and the reinstalling. Nothing seems to work. I even tried going back to the version that came with WinTV-HVR-950Q and it has similar but not quite the same problems. If I look at the device manager it sees the ATSC/QAM Capture Device and NTSC Capture Device and USB Audio Device telling me that all are working properly and have the latest available software.

Is there anything I can do to get this to work?

Is your CPU, memory, video card, or motherboard chipset overclocked? When have you last checked your machine for malware? Is your antivirus up to date and what is it? Have you tried to check your disk for errors? Does this happen only to WinTV, or to other programs as well? Are you running the installer as an administrator? I'm afraid you give too little information for more specific attempts to help you.
