Here is a newer beta version (just of the app not the full download) which has the above patch in and also fixes an issue where streaming could take longer than expected to start.

Looks like this release broke the channel changing capability when using the http stream.

    Using

    http://192.168.1.200:7799/stream?channel=410

    and then
    http://192.168.1.200:7799/stream?channel=400

    doesn't change the channel anymore.

What happens when you try this?

    X and Guy,

I too witnessed the cropped image issue. Glad to see that fixed. I opted to install the latest app beta.

I'm streaming Baseball World Series on my 4S now at max res.

I have seen sporadic issues getting the iPhone app to connect to the extend server with login issues. Restarting the extend server seems to make a difference. The issue seems to manifest itself more readily after installing a software update to WinTV.

I don't know if you've done anything else to improve overhead on trans-coding, but CPU load seems to be a bit lower now. I have added a second GTX 460 to SLI my machine, but I didn't think that mattered for Extend.

    Cheers

I have an issue where the stream stops after a certain amount of time in the ipad app and mobile safari. I have to switch to some other channel to get it working again.

can you post the wintvtranscode.txt and extendstreaming.txt for that session.

Which profile are you using? What channel is it? After exactly how long? Is it remotely over internet or via local network?

I have seen this happen with the iPhone app as well. Either a reboot or a restart of the extend server seemed to cure it.

Could you all let me know what processors you are running? I would really like to be able to run max resolution (2056) to my Ipad 2, but anything over 1024 pegs my dual core AMD Athlon 64x2 3800+ processor and it just it not up for the task. I'd like to know what it's going to take for me to be able to run 2056. The computer is find for every other task right now except this, which I'm starting to use quite a bit (yet another use for an Ipad).

I suppose the bigger question should be fielded by the fellows that support the product and what the system requirements are to support WinTV in it's native form, and in Extend form.

This question of older computers has actually come up a few times. Keep in mind that a 3800+ is easily 5+ years old, which is an eternity. If you are intent on not upgrading, your best bet would be see what you can do with overclocking your system, both for the front-side bus and the CPU itself. This will require you to take steps to ensure the CPU gets adequate cooling. I am not prepared to give that support here.

In my situation, I am also an AMD fan. The machine I'm using with Extend was originally built with a 4200+ processor running on an Asus M2N32-SLI deluxe. So this machine is also 5+ years old. However, all internal parts have been upgraded, CPU (now an X4 965BE), memory upgraded to 4GB, GPU now has 2 EVGA GTX 460s running in SLI. So you can see that substantial changes have been made. Running at max res of 1440 x 900, cores are averaging less than 20% utilization.
