Window repaint issue after full screen

Normally, this is what my WinTV window looks like:

When I return from full screen, there is a good chance for me to get a screen with most of the UI elements missing (this doesn't happen always, but it happens often enough to be easily reproducible):

Please ignore some image truncation to the far right of the screen.

When I click to change channel, most of the UI returns, with only window control (top right) buttons missing:

Of note, I have "Cycle window mode on double click" unticked because the "middle" mode causes the picture to stop honoring gamma settings from the video card's control panel. The card, if it helps, is an nVidia GeForce GTX 260 with the latest drivers, and the issue has been there for a very long time.

Just so this can be considered filed against the latest version: It does this with 2.4 as well.
