Okay, here are some preliminary findings. I will be doing some more testing.

It hadn't occurred to me that the browser would matter in this, but here goes...

When I tried playing back the recording in Firefox 4.0.1, Flowplayer crashed immediately. This was on the server machine itself. Then I tried Google Chrome, and that worked during a short test.

Then I moved over to a client machine and tried IE 8. This machine is Win XP, as opposed to the server, which is running Win 7 64 bit Professional. Here again, the playback is flawless.

Now here is the most astonishing thing. In order for the playback on the client machine to work, the server is having to run flat out with all four cores running at 100%!!!

My next test will be to try running live TV playback on a different client using one of the other available browsers. The client laptop I'm going to try this on will be Win 7 64 bit pro as well.

One additional comment. I may have mentioned before that I don't use the PC to record TV, but now that I've done this experiment, it is observed that Flowplayer is lacking any of the most basic VCR type controls to move the position of playback forward or backward. Hopefully that enhancement can be made in a future release.

    Cheers

CPU will be 100% initially when playing back a recording, as it tried to encode the video as fast possible, so it wll encode the whole video after a few minutes. It's at a low priority so other apps will still run on the server.

Thanks for these updates, I'll check it out, I would have been testing with IE so this is useful.

The CPU stayed maxed for the duration. I haven't seen any application I have be able to do that to this machine. Other than stuff like Prime95 or OCCT...

Okay, interestingly, I was able to watch an extended session (pardon the pun) using IE9 with no issues whatsoever. So the problem is definitely with Firefox 4. That's really too bad since this is my preferred browser, but at least I have a way to deal with watching TV streaming on a remote PC client!
