Did you reboot after changing these settings? Restarting the WinTV front end is not enough. There is a background service that only reads this file when booting.

Thanks. Now with a full PC reboot after editting the genPCI.ini file adding the line SOURCE_3_NTSC_FIELD_ORDER=1
under all the models with HVR-1250 or HVR-1255 (since I can't tell which one is being used for my unit)
WinTV now records from NTSC analog video with the proper Top field first flag setting and video data field order matches, so no more jittering on playback!
Perhaps that line should be added by default for those models in new releases to help others?

What tool did you use to see that the data was top field first but header bottom field first? NTSC should be Bottom field first, so I'd like to understand what tool you checked to see the data is actually bottom field first.

I looked at the files you attached earlier and to me, both clips are stuttery in WMP, can you point to the differences in the clips perhaps?

I am seeing the same issue with my USB2-Live device. I have upgraded to WinTV v7 2.5 and am still seeing this issue. The device is capturing content using top field first, however, the outputted MPEG-2 file is bottom field first. I am using a program called GSpot to determine whether the MPEG-2 file is top field first or bottom field first.

I modified my GenUSB.ini file as mentioned above and that fixed the problem. The MPEG-2 files are now written with the top field first flag.

I just wanted to give my input on this issue in hopes of helping it get resolved.
