As the HD-PVR does the processing when recording, and the the fact you can switch the preview window off means that most modern-ish laptops should be able to handle the recording. What are the specs of the laptop you want to record on?
Hello forum, I have a question about the HD PVR.
I understand that I have to connect my HD PVR to a computer in order to save the recorded video from an Xbox 360. But does that computer have to have great specs?
What I want to do, is record the video using a rather old laptop, and save all the videos onto a large external hard drive. Then I will put the video files onto my other more capable computer to edit and manage them (which is on the other side of the house, which is why I cant just use it).
Is this possible?
Thanks in advance!

Windows XP
Having a low spec computer to record with wont lower the quality of the video, right?
you will be fine, but playing or editing the video back will be pretty tough for your computer to handle.
Here is a test video: http://www.symonator.com/1/hdpvr-sample/test.M2TS this is how your computer will play it back.
However for recording, you can do that.
