Default WinTV Extend ver 2.3a - have to RestartStreamingService all the time

Thanks for all your info folks, its been very helpful!

I've been planning to watch the super bowl while flying on a plane tomorrow and have been trying to get wintv extend to work properly.

BTW: WinTV Extend: Great idea, great product!

I've got a new cable modem (moto sb6120) in attempt to fix this issue.
I've got a linksys wrt54gs and installed dd-wrt in attempt to fix.

I have setup port forwarding and it works...

...but I have to restart, run the "RestartStreamingService.exe" after every access to wintv extend from an external internet connection or else it never reconnects.

Well this doesn't work so well if i'm up in plane at 12,000 feet on my way to...

Local access from my wifi setup works just fine, i can connect, go elsewhere and can reconnect consistently without issue.

Any ideas as to what I can do?

Running Windows 7 Pro, 32 bit

    Running extend/wintv version 2.3a software, v 7.2.29032

    with the HVR-1250 card

If it works fine within your network, then it does sound like it is something to do with your router, possibly firewall software on your PC.

ok it would seem that zonealarm free cannot be used on my system with wintv extend.

when it is removed things seem to be working properly.

I did removed avg 2011 free version also just to be safe... (yea - that sounds strange doesn't it... ;-)

Yes, I believe I had both of the apps as full access, 4 green checks, internet and trusted.
I think both the wintv and WinTVExtender showed up under ZA.

BTW: If you are going to take a flight in the USA with the inflight wifi GoGo network and you try using winTV extend to watch a TV program (LIKE AN IMPORTANT ONE LIKE THE SUPERBOWL!!!!!) then you should be aware that the bandwidth on the plane is somewhat less then what you need. You might get every tenth frame... if you're lucky. Interesting part is that the system waits for every frame before moving on, so as the slow frames come in, in order, they play, are displayed. Its like watching the game in replays, in slow-mo, all the time. Which means you are getting farther behind in the game as time goes on and you must refresh the browser to keep up with current time. Interesting how frames get delayed but not deleted on the interweb or within the browser, waiting for consecutive frames. Maybe the folks at H can share some light on this subject...???

There is nothing we could do about that. If you want it to play correctly, you'd have to be able to supply enough bandwidth for the bitrate you have selected - otherwise the player will get lots of stop and starts as you're watching as it waits for you internet connection to deliver the data.

Yes, probably nothing you can do.

    Aircell's GoGo network: http://www.nettechn.com/articles/EB_Aircell_WiFi.pdf

Not ready for live tv just yet...

WinTV Extend worked just fine down at the local Panera's...
Bandwidth and operation on the laptop with WinTV Extend was checked before the game...
