    Default HD-PVR Issues

Hey guys I know youre not actual hauppauge support but Im hoping you can help me out since Im at my wits end and its been a week and still nothing from the "official" hauppauge support.

ok so my problem is while recording vids from my xbox in theater mode I receive a no signal / signal loss on my TV and arcsoft total media extreme freezes for about 10 secs then it comes back. After about another min it happens again ... etc etc etc. While actually playing through my HD PVR I have no problems. Just while Im recording. I havent tried recording while Im actually playing.

Ive read some threads on here and so far this is what I have done.

Im running windows 7 32 bit on an IBM Lenovo T61p 4gb of RAM Intel Core 2 Duo CPU(s) 2.50ghz. 148gb ata hd.

    Arcsoft SW tried 1.0.9.9 / 2.0.33.4 / 2.0.33.6

Arcsoft SW Suite CD ver 2.5

    HD PVR REV E1

HD-PVR Drivers tried 1.5.6.1 and 1.5.7.0 (1.5.6.1 actually worked better)

I have a Samsung 55" flat screen (1 yr old).

    Tried different USB ports.

Laptop plugged in. laptop running off batt.

USB ports and laptop power saving options turned off.

Dropped xbox display setting from 1080i to 720p which made the signal loss less often but still happened.

    Xbox slim.

Using the cables that came with the xbox and the pvr. No cable extenders are being used or after market cables.

I have also plugged my hd pvr into a different plug (wall socket) in a different room on a totally different circuit.

I was actually able to capture 1 vid but then it started acting up again. I power cycled everything. Had issues. Powered everything off for 30 mins powered everything back up same issues again.

This is my second HD PVR. First PVR had no out put signal. I have friends who are basically running a similar setup (running a lesser equipped laptop) that are not having problems.

Just cant figure this out. Any help would be appreciated. Sorry for the long post but I wanted to get as much info as possible. Thanks again.

Well, it looks like you tried a lot already, next thing I would do is see if one of your friend's HD-PVR's works on your set up. Just swap it straight in, using your PSU, cables etc and see if that works. You'll get a better idea what's going wrong then, well, you'll know if it's the HD-PVR anyhow.

When you emailed support, did you get an automatic reply with a Support Ticket number?

I ended up hearing back from them last night and Im in the process of trying what they have suggested. Ill report back if it worked or not. If it did Ill post what they suggested I do. Also my friends live out of state so swapping the pvr with one of them is kinda out of the question. Do you know REV E1 is the newest rev that is out there or is it an older rev ?

**UPDATE** ~ What support suggested I do didnt completely work. First Vid hiccuped twice for a sec or two and was 9 +/- mins. 2nd vid was fine and was 11+ mins no issues with that one. 3rd vid was completely choppy and froze up every 20-30 secs TV would have a black screen not even a no signal error/display. I would have to pull the usb cable to get the display to come back on the tv and the sw to start responding on my laptop. Below is what they suggest I do just in case it might help someone else. Also to add to my trouble shooting I disabled my AV and Malware Bytes app. Set the capturemedia process to realtime and watched the processes in the task manager while recording. capturemedia process never went over 10 for CPU processes. System Idle process was consistent at 95+ % the whole time.

**This is from Hauppauge Support** - It didnt work for me but might work for someone else.

Please complete the following and let me know if this works.

    1. Remove the Arc-soft application from the control panel/ Uninstall a program.

    2. Please click on link to download the HCWCLEAR.exe application to remove
    previous driver and application:
    http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/softw...s/hcwclear.exe

    3. Run the HCWClear.exe select total removal and search all INF Files / Restart computer.

    4. Make sure the HD PVR is connected to the computer and the power is ON.

5.You can get the driver from here:
    http://hauppauge.lightpath.net/softw...vr_1.5.7.0.zip

    6. To install:
Download and unzip the file and run "hcwdriverinstall.exe, this should
install the updated driver for the HD PVR unit.
hcwdriverinstall.exe, this should install the driver for the HD PVR unit.

    7.Total Media Extreme application:
    ftp://hauppauge.com/support/HDPVR/tme_0430.zip
Download, save, & unzip. Open the unzipped folder & run the setup from the
    TME 0430. Complete the updates.

    8. Install the update for the TME application

    Hi,

E1 isn't the newest rev, the newest is F1, but you shouldn't see a difference between the two.
OK, next thing i would try is just using it with the Laptop, leave the TV out of the set up for the moment. In TME, you should have a tickbox for Hardware acceleration, this should be on as default, switch this off, and also check the tick box to disable the preview. Try another recording and see what it comes out like.

weird problem couldnt login kept saying my email address has been banned? Not sure why. I was never sent an email saying it was banned or I did anything wrong. I apologize if I did anything wasnt intentional.

Anyway I think I got it figured out. I am running a NVIDIA fx 570M. It was set to 60hz refresh rate. I updated the drivers and turned it down to 50hz and was able to capture two vids in a row without any problems. So heres to keeping my fingers crossed. Thanks for your help.

Again I do apologize for anything I might have done to get banned.

OK, thanks for the info on your solution.

Don't know what happened with your old account, looks like it has been deleted for some reason. Don't worry, it was nothing you had done.
