Why is my pvr not recording video in 720

Whenever i record in 720 and open it in sony vegas 8.0 it only has sound?? Please help and the clip frame has a red box on it in other qualitys! Please help!

Do not use mp4 (xbox 360 setting) swop to playstation 3 and the filetype will be .m2ts.

Also.. some vegas builds do not allow hd pvr filetypes, you need sony vegas 8, 9 or 10 PRO editions.

.m2ts takes up too much space in my opinion, just download a program called ''Handbrake'' and run the file through that. It stays in .mp4 and the file size is much smaller too. Quality is the same aswell

You dont need any settings...just click on either Xbox 360 or Playstation 3. Xbox 360 for my method

But that is not an answer to his question..

he is using sony vegas to edit and add effects etc.. maybe for a youtube montage or whatever, this mp4 it outputs does not work in builds of sony vegas that are not the pro editions.

So he needs to record in the ps3 setting and use a sony vegas that supports the filetype otherwise he is not going to get sound..because the mp4 the hd pvr creates isn't very good!

I answered his question in my first post. Handbrake encodes it without losing any quality, it stays at .mp4 and works fine in vegas.

But why would someone want to spend extra time encoding the video, to edit in vegas then re-render again as an mp4 once he finishes editing, its just a stupid way.
When you can simply use the m2ts file and a better version of sony vegas.

You don't want to be encoding videos 2 times like your method suggests, since first he will need to encode with handbrake then with vegas, timewasting.
More to the point any forum user here will tell you the mess that is hd-pvr mp4's.

It takes literally a minute to encode a minute video, but yeah im just doing that cause my hdd space is tight
