A lot of memory
I have an HVR950 running latest Win7.
A process- CAD66B~1.EXE starts and runs without using WIN7 and is using up over 108,000K of memory.
I know how to disable/stop it. Is it necessary to eat this memory without using Win7 ? It has to be slowing down my other programs.

Re: A lot of memory
This is the capture plugin for the device. This is needed. If you stop the HauppaugeTVServer service then no scheduled recordings will be able to run.

Re: A lot of memory
I understand.
Why can't this app run when Win7 is selected to start ?
It seems I'm losing a lot of memory, waiting for it to be used. It can't be used until I open Win7. Right ?

Because it needs to run in the background to be available for scheduled recordings, or for streaming to iphones etc.

As mentioned above, there is times it is used even when you're not running the WinTV7 user interface. It's also not as bad as it might, since very little of the memory it's using will be real memory. Most of it is virtual memory and will be swapped out to disk when not being used. It wont be slowing down your other apps.
