HVR 3300 vs HVR 4400
Hi I've got a HVR 1100 and I'm looking for a card that has DVB-S built in as well as DVB-T
the two models I've seen are the 3300 and the 4300
I see one of them the 4300 has something called DVB-S2
and the 3300 has just DVB-S
what is the difference? Am I able to watch BBC HD and ITV HD on DVB-S?

Re: HVR 3300 vs HVR 4400
HD channels on non UK satellites are generally using DVB-S2. In the UK currently all the FTA HD channels only require DVB-S. That could change or new channels could launch using DVB-S2. e.g. Channel 4 HD is currently FTV (requires non subscription smartcard) using DVB-S2 but if it was to go FTA, then you'd need a DVB-S2 card to watch it (for example)

Okay that makes sense thanks.
Would channel 4HD work with the 4400 or not?
I'm thinking 3300 - will I be able to record via WinTV and DVB-T
whilst watching DVB-S through media centre?

Re: HVR 3300 vs HVR 4400
No, Channel 4 HD is encrypted right now, but it would be tuning in during a scan but not on the HVR-3300.
The HVR-3300 and HVR-4400 are combo tuners so yes, you can watch DVB-S AND DVB-T at the same time
