Default HDPVR dont likes some 60Hz frame rate sources

    Hello,

I'm not really a new user of HDPVR but I gave up because of the flickering problem. Now it"s fixed (great job !) so I'm using it again.
The problem is that some sources does not works (black screen, loose sync).

    Setup 1 is : SOURCE > HDPVR> TV

    Tests for setup 1
    Xbox 1 (480p-60Hz) : pass
    Xbox 360 (720p-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 2 (480i-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 2 (480p-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 3 (720p-60Hz) : pass
    GameCube (480p-60Hz) : pass
    Wii (480i-60Hz) : pass
    Wii (480p-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 1 (480i signal-60Hz) : fail
    Saturn (480i signal-60Hz) : fail
    Megadrive (480i signal-60Hz) : fail
    Nintendo 64 (480i signal-60Hz) : fail
    PC Engine CD (480i signal-60Hz) : fail

    Setup 2 is : SOURCE > VP30 > HDPVR > TV

    Tests for setup 2
    Xbox 1 (480p-60Hz) : pass
    Xbox 360 (720p-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 2 (480i-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 2 (480p-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 3 (720p-60Hz) : pass
    GameCube (480p-60Hz) : pass
    Wii (480i-60Hz) : pass
    Wii (480p-60Hz) : pass
    PlayStation 1 (480i signal-60Hz) : pass
    Saturn (480i signal-60Hz) : pass
    Megadrive (480i signal-60Hz) : pass
    Nintendo 64 (480i signal-60Hz) : pass
    PC Engine CD (480i signal-60Hz) : pass

Note 1 : VP30 is a Video Processor that allow a lot of things
For setup 2 I unlock output framerate to 59.94Hz and now everything works.

Note 2 : By default, VP30 output framerate is the same as the source (60Hz locked as you can see). In setup 2, VP30 output all sources to 720p-YPrPb with unlocked framerate set to 59.94Hz for best compatibility (100% as far i tested).

I would be very nice if the problematics sources could works without using a device likes VP30. Any clue about this Hauppauge team ? could it be fixed ?

I have the same problem. I record videos from arcade boards and some of them are not a standard 60hz signal. The Haupappage can not sync down to 59.18hz as one of the boards is and some are way down to 52hz.

Is there any fix for the software to do frame rate conversion or at least have the Hauppage scan down to 52hz or even autoscan?

Autoscan would be more of a software thing since it's frame/refresh rate conversion.

I emailed them twice and still no response in 2 weeks now.

ok timeout ... I give up with HDPVR. I wasted enough time/money with Hauppauge .

I will buy a device from blackmagic-design (Intensity Shuttle / H264 Pro Recorder).

    Bye.

So i grab out this thread. Same problem here. I need to record old Games for my Retro-Show and the PS1 fails. I use the composite cable. Can i aviod this by using svideo? Or still this problem.

To the official members, will there a fix in the near future? Or should i look out for an alternative?

    Greetings

There is no Hauppauge HDPVR people here monitoring these posts. As noted in the titlebar, these forums are really for "user to user" support. If you've got some problem you want Hauppauge to look at, you'd need to contact support.
