Unable to get any picture or sound on any application?
Tried to get the HD PVR setup today with zero success, I've been through the basic setup from the box, tried the beta media center updates and even tried dvb link and nothing seemed to work.
First I tried just installing the drivers and software from the disc supplied as per the enclosed instructions, when I open the TME recording program i'm sat with simply a black screen no sound or video (this is after selecting the correct input methods in the left hand menu, tried both svideo/spdif & white, red, yellow composites).
After this I tried adding the media center compatability kit from hauppauge's site. Again following the pdf to the letter, updating the driver then installing the IR and blaster. At this stage I was left stuck as the blaster would do nothing at all, if I did a reboot and started it then it would flash one on a test send to my stb, but never again unless rebooted. However this first flash would do nothing and send no signal from the look of my stb.
I tried to proceed to run the mce setup anyway and see, as far as detecting the tuner in wmc all was good and I was able to get the guide listings all setup fine. When it came to viewing a channel I could only select a channel the stb was already tuned to due to a non functioning blaster. After at least 4-5 reboots I finally got a picture however it was out of sync and stuttered for about 20 seconds before giving me a blue "no tv signal" screen, that was the last of any picture and it never worked again.
Finally I tried dvblink again following all their install instructions slowly to the letter and again nothing at all not even a stuttering picture this time.
Each time I tried these I went through the procedure of uninstalling everything from the previous attempt and running a full reg cleaner and rebooting before trying to install new things.
From what I can gather after 8 hours today at this, the HD PVR won't run smoothly if it gets warm or its not on a dedicated usb controller, so I shited the unit into a room next to an open window (only way it was getting colder would be in the fridge), I also tried putting in a pci usb card to keep my other stuff seperate, still no luck, I even tried having the HD PVR as the only thing (apart from my os hard drive) attached to my pc and used an old ps2 mouse to just run the apps with. Still the same results.
Alot of the time I found myself having the do a manual power cycle as the unit would just drop for no reason and in device manager it would show as failing to start.
So can anyone verify all of these issues, or at least shed some light my way on why it wont function? I understand that the wmc drivers are advertised as beta but this product doesn't even seem to want to function as sold and unless I can get it working before the return deadline then its going back for a refund. IT seems abit odd that it can't function without a whole list of extra things not listed anywhere in the system requirements, most of which are additional bits of hardware.
The system I'm running this on is as follows:
Windows 7 premium 64bit
Athlon 54 x2 6000+ 3ghz
4gb ram
his hd4850 1gb
250gb seagate barracuda as os drive with 1tb WD & 2tb WD media drives.
Sky+ HD samsung 200gb as stb
Codecs are just about everything under the sun, sharks007 codecs & klite pack. This is a media pc and it can play any video & audio file around so i'm confident that that isn't an issue. I keep all my drivers upto date on a weekly basis and run comprehensive virus/spyware scans along with defragging and cleaning the reg weekly too. Also i'm confident the machine isn't lacking anything in power as it happily throws out full 1080 mkv files without blinking.

Re: Unable to get any picture or sound on any application?
Your PC definately doesnt look like the problem... Is your HDPVR a late model? Or early model? I heard the early models had overheating problems?
Also is this the first time you have used the unit? or did it use to work, and now all of a sudden doesnt?
Maybe its your USB Cable? Have you got another one you can try just to check?
Could be your Component cables to? I heard some units came with Funky Component cables?
