Re: does hauppauge hd pvr work with vista 64 bit?
If you look in these forums you will see some people have more problems with Vista than XP or Windows 7. It is one of those pieces of equipment that requires a little coaxing into life.
If I switch TV channels from SD to HD I have to cycle the power on the HD-PVR because it hangs. If I Fast Forward it sometimes hangs. If I go into the TV schedule (which switches resolution) it sometimes hangs. The new drivers from July are a bit better in this respect though. I have to cycle the power so often I have a remote it!!
Having said that....When it works which it does most of the time, if you play by the rules, it produces excellent results easily as good as the original.
So it may work great for someone with Vista-64 and not for another. Make sure you buy it from someone who will take it back if it doesn't work for you.

I am planning on buying it on walmart.com, It says it has 1 year warranty and a return item option.

I live in us and on us site of hauppauge it says
Windows 7 (32 and 64-bit), Windows Vista or Windows XP service pack 2 (32-bit).
On UK, it says
Microsoft® Windows® 7 (32/64bit), Vista (32/64bit) or Windows XP Service Pack 3.
I'm confused

Hope it works for you. I have recording 100's of hours of HD material with this thing, I would not be without it now!
Make sure the rest of your PC is up to the job otherwise it will frame stutter. At first I thought any old laptop would do but it needs a fairly fast machine.
I think I ran it on Vista-64 when I first got it. You should be OK. I'm in the UK but it's the same software. I have downloaded and installed the USA drivers in the past.

Re: does hauppauge hd pvr work with vista 64 bit?
TBH, when you go to purchase the item, just ask them, whats their policy on refunds?
Tell them this story that the website for US is not fully updated etc, and if it doesnt work on your PC, if you can return it?
The store should have some kind of (so many days) full refund on the product? You just have to ask them...
But in other words...
It should work with VISTA, it just seems like most users have had more problems with VISTA then any other OS... including me... But it still worked, it just does annoying extra things that XP dont for me... I cant speak for Windows7 as i havent tried it yet..
