Default HD PVR - "No Signal"

Hey, I made a post recently about a brightness issue, the outcome was my tv needed replacing, and so that's what I did.. I replaced my tv and now I can't even get a signal when I connect my component cables from the HD PVR into the TV. When I connect my Xbox 360 straight to my TV, it works perfectly.

Yes all the connectors are in the right slots, trust me I've spent hours and hours making sure and tried up to 2 different wires.

I want to know if 1: can anyone please help me out on a fix & 2: If I can use 1 TV, e.g; Can I use 1 TV for my Xbox 360 AND PC? My TV has a VGA cable and works perfectly as a monitor, but I'm unsure as to IF the PVR allows that. If you get what I mean.
Someone please help! I'm extremely stressed at this product.

EDIT: Would this possibly fix my issue, as HDMI looks amazing on this new TV I've bought; http://www.sourcingmap.com/component...l?currency=GBP . So Xbox>component>HD PVR>HDMI converter>TV?

    Hi,

Are you still getting a picture on the laptop, just now you dont get anything from the pass through to the TV?

Yes, you can attach both to the TV, they will just be on different inputs so will be fine. I use the same setup on my TV, have PC, Xbox and PS3 on seperate inputs, and just switch between them <or use PiP>

    Thanks for the fast reply!

My computer picks up the PVR, as in it's connected perfectly.. I just can't seem to get a picture on my Component signal UNLESS I go straight from Xbox->TV. It's pretty annoying! Any idea if that product I linked would work?

It MAY do, i haven't tried any converters, but in theory they should work.
Has your TV got different options for the component connection? try changing them around.

My TV doesn't exactly give me any options to change really, all I can do is search for a signal and all it gives me is VGA, which obviously is my computer, so that's out of the option I'm afraid :/

I might add but the first time I connect a new pair of component cables to the PVR, I get a black screen but with some crazy resolution pop up, and it constantly flashes.. Like 1280x720, after 5 seconds it goes and all I get is "No Signal"

You get a No Signal message on the TV? If so, while you have that up, unplug the component leads from the HD-PVR and see what happens.

The The problem that Sam needs help is having is the exact same problem I am having with my HD PVR and PS3. I've been fiddling with the different cables for a while and it is definitely something to do with the box, as when I plug my Component Cable directly into the TV its fine but when I then route it through the HD PVR, nada.
    Can anyone help?
PS: I did a brief signal once, but it was REALLY fuzzy and blurred so there is some kind of signal loss going on somewhere...

While I have the "No Signal" message on my TV screen, if I were to unplug the component cables going INTO my TV, the channel is lost and I can not go onto it, so the TV notices the cables in.. It just won't send a signal!

They told you to replace your TV ???? Surely not

There is it would seem some confusion elsewhere as to what "component" actually means. One company called Maplins has recently refunded me for a product they advertise as "Component" It turns out that it is not. its just RGB which is not the same as Component. I have several flat screen tvs/monitors. three of them claim to have a Component input, only one of them truly has. I had an email from Maplins the other day saying they are going to correct their adverts...they have not done it yet but in their FAQ's they confuse an RCA plug (which can be used for all sorts of things) with a Component input they then tell one user yes it can be usedin a certain configuraqtion and in the same FAQ tell another that it cannot.

So dont be too upset that these companies dont get it right, just get a refund and make a bit of noise about it.

I'm not saying that the HD PVR does not have a true component input and output, but mine is displaying some split personality problems at the moment

Have to say it is a very unsatisfactory piece of kit

That doesn't seem to be the case at all, John. If you had read this post from Sam you would have seen that he had issues when connecting his Xbox directly to his TV, i.e. without the HD-PVR.

Therefore it is entirely reasonable to replace a TV with defective component inputs, don't you think?

Sam, does your TV have an option to set the input type for the composite inputs, to NTSC/PAL/Auto or 50Hz/60Hz?
