    Default WinTV-HVR-950Q hybrid TV stick on karmic

    ok I bought this tv tuner. I cannot get it to work however. I called tech support and they said linux is not supported. I am running karmic 9.10. I live in the US and thought that this worked out the box and would scan all digitial channels.

    can anyone help me get this set up. here is my dmesg log

    I have read this post at TV linux and it says that it should work out the box with karmic, my kernel is 2.6.31-17-generic

    I scanned channels using this command tvtime-scanner and it found some channels here is the output

    it shows channels picking up

    how do I configure tv time to work? it just comes up with a no signal



    after I get this working I want to get the tvheadend working from this XBMC Thread

    Pls help as I need help on this.

    Usually, it will be necessary to extract the demodulator firmware (and also tuner firmware if it's an Xceive tuner) from the original Windows drivers. I don't know about the HVR-950Q though.

    What happens if you type dmesg from terminal? Any errors relating to firmware download either after connecting the HVR-950Q or when trying to scan for channels?

    Also, are you only interested in analogue, or digital?

    I am interested in both actually however would like digital to pickup HD channels.
