Version #, where do I see it?
I (tried) to do the upgrade to the new version, not sure if I succeeded or not, no idea where in the running software I can find the version number? I very much want to have the TV Guide feature, but I don't see it anywhere...

Nothing much has changed in 1.3 on this front. All that has changed is that you can choose to supply your own tv listings for channels in a standard xmltv file if you want. There is no new screens. The TV Guide screen was also present in previous releases, but would previously only show listings from DVB broadcasts.
This change happens when the user has placed an xmltv file called TVGuide.xml file in WinTV data directory, then the user views the channel details screen in the 'all channels' tab (via right click) and sets the EPG source to be one of the channels from the xmltv file.
Which country are you in? The TV Guide screen isnt shown in North America.

Re: Version #, where do I see it?
Anyone know a good software package to replace WinTv that has basically the same features but includes a Guide feature? Something hopefully not too hard to set up? Using Win7 btw.

You can enable the TV guide in North America by tweaking a setting in the setting files. It was disabled by default in North America since the TV Guide was really intended for showing the TV listings broadcast with DVB channels. DVB is not used in North America so it would be empty, and just lead to support questions of why the TV Guide was empty.
This new xmltv guide feature can be used to get listings in north america, but as I mentioned - you need to provide your own xmltv files containing the listings (google 'mc2xml' for an example utility that can get north american xmltv files).

can you tell me where to tweak this setting in WinTV? I have the mcmxml, have been trying another software package (because of no guide feature, haven't gotten that software to work right yet... But was able to get the guide in that to work)

I just checked, and I was wrong. We didnt end up making a setting that would enable it. It only shows up if a DVB device is present in the system. Sorry.
We'll add a setting for it in a next release. Regardless, its a pretty basic TV Guide, that doesnt do much more than show you a grid with which shows are on at what time, so it may not be what you're looking anyway.
