Pixelated Image on WinTV Nova-TD

I've just installed windows 7 and my WinTV Nova-TD card and can't manage to find out why the image is so pixelated? Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Thanks

Can you post a screenshot so we can see what you mean exactly?

Whats the signal quality like? (run the Hauppauge Signal Monitor from the start menu)

I had windowsXP installed before and did not have this problem, but had the same problem with Vista aswell. The strange thing is when I take a snapshot with WinTV the image comes out perfect.
My signal strength is also strong aswell.

You may need to zoom in to the image a bit to see what I'm talking about as it's quite small on here.

Where exactly highlights the problem in that screenshot? In general that screenshot seems to look ok to me. After all, we are talking standard def here.

You may find different video renderer options give a slightly more pleasing effect for your eyes.

When your looking at this image it does look ok, but while watching in full screen mode it is very evident. I noticed this straight away when I watched It for the first time after I installed WinTV on windows 7.

When I had XP I had no problems with the image. WinTV seems to be the only application which has this problem. And for some reason I can't record either.

I know what your saying about the quality of standard definition, but this is a completely different problem. The source material doesn't get worse if you install a new operating system. It should be the same.

I would try the different video renderer options to see if any of them look better on your setup (ie EVR, VMR9, VMR7, Overlay). Your videocard may not have very good support for the video renderer currently being used.

Exactly. Your DVB-T device just returns the digital stream encoded and transmitted by your broadcasters. You'd get exactly the same stream regardless of whether your on XP, Vista, Win7. The most likely difference is in the playback, which is largely dependent on your videocard and its drivers. This has definitely changed between versions of operating systems since Microsoft has been making a lot of changes in these areas.

I've noticed a difference with VMR9 between Windows Vista/7 and Windows XP. I don't think Hauppauge can do anything about this because I've seen it in many programs when using VMR9.

Your best bet (for Vista and 7) is usually to use EVR (if your graphics card supports it). If it doesn't support EVR, it's not really suitable for Windows 7 anyway.

If you are using EVR with hardware acceleration, you shouldn't have any quality issues. If you are, you should post which graphics card you have and which graphics card driver version you are using.

The video renderer used by WinTV can be configured in the settings screen (on the first tab).
