The Great Digital Dister - 30th September - Fixed!
When the great mess up day has arrived and bang on schedule digital disaster is the only polite word for it.
My Hauppauge TV card can no longer actually produce a picture or sound for channel five, ITV3 or ITV4, though interestingly it does produce the now and next legend. I have retuned several times with the same useless result. Oh please bring back nice simple reliable analogue far less rubbish and none of this constant retune lark.
I have a Hauppauge PCI card from the 9xxx series with what I understand to be the latest faster and more reliable software.
What can I do to get out from under this latest pile of digital xxxxxx.
PS the hauppauge card is not the only tuner that thinks the 'great changeover is rubbish', it is more like a lottery than a success. Some machines can get all the channels, some can get channel 5 but not others some cannot get 5, and so it goes on and on!
All are feed by the same aerial.

Re: The Great Digital Dister
Are you running the latest 1.2 software? There should be an option via the Start menu to remove all channels and then rescan.

+1
Just remove all channels then perform a ALL CHANNEL scan again via the Tuner Setup.

Re: The Great Digital Dister - My Problem Solved
Problem solved, yes I am using the latest software, and along with the newest drivers for the video card. The tuner was looking good last night, far more stable and reliable.
Thank you for your suggestions, it took me a few moments to work out which 'Start' menu you meant. After running that option [from the program start menu] it automatically went into the re-tune option and allowed me to perform a successful auto tune.
The Hauppauge has not been the only device that has been thrown by today's mess, so far three devices have taken an average of an hour each to re-tune and there are more to go!
It appears that most devices need to have all old data explicitly flushed before attempting the retune.
Thank you once more for your help.

Re: The Great Digital Dister
I agree, it's best to flush out all old data this time, and the same goes for all Freeview receivers, not just Hauppauge WinTV.
Usually a rescan is to find a new channel that's been added, and it that situation you can usually get away with an "add channels" type of scan. This time however, channels are moving places, so chances are that even if it did work you would see duplicate channels, some of which wouldn't work.
