WinTV 7 CD 1.1e Channel Guide Not Working ?
Hi all.
Hope I might gain some assistance here. I'm new to WinTV 7. Picture and sound are superior to Windows Media Center on my Vista, SP2 (64-Bit) install.
One issue I am having is that when my channels are scanned, there is no info at all (Charter Cable - Newnan, GA, U.S.A.).

TV Guide is the same. Is there a way to get the channel info and program info?
- Windows Vista Home Premium, SP2 (64-bit)
- WinTV7 CD 1.1e
- Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1800 (Model 78xxx, Combo ATSC/QAM)
- NVIDIA GeForce 9800GT with 512MB dedicated video memory

Re: WinTV 7 CD 1.1e Channel Guide Not Working
The TV Guide is only transmitted in countries that use DVB. Its normal to get no guide information in the US. Infact, this screen is hidden from North American users in the later 1.2 release to remove any confusion.
The channel names in the US are be available when you use digital ATSC, and on some digital cable networks. The names are never available for analog cable channels like they you've shown above. For analog channels it just has to make up a name for each channel - you can rename the channel manually though.

Re: WinTV 7 CD 1.1e Channel Guide Not Working
Hmmmm.
Then how to record and/or schedule a recording? Kind of a letdown. I guess I'm stuck with Windows Media Center (which at least recognizes cable channels and TV Guide) as we have 116 channels of cable.
As far as 1.2, I tried it. It will not recognize any scanned cable channels at all and produces a "no signal" for all channels.
Oh well, Thanks anyway.

Re: WinTV 7 CD 1.1e Channel Guide Not Working
Microsoft pay third parties for TV guide data, which is why Windows Media Center has a TV guide even for analogue channels. It would be nice to have support in WinTV7 for importing from an external XMLTV grabber.

Re: WinTV 7 CD 1.1e Channel Guide Not Working
Thanks for the info, cdldt
I'll still use WinTV 7 for the purposes of watching. But without any sort of channel ifo/guide, it's not as useful as Id hoped. To be honest, I'm still on the lookout for a real Media Center replacement.
Thanks, again.

Pretty cool. Thanks. Needs tweaking though. When I click "watch", a blank box with Microsoft .NET Framework pops up and WinTV goes blank and freezes. I'll have to see if they have a help forum.
Thanks again guys. Hope I can get this to work. Looks really interesting.

Well. Seems this error is a stopper. Searched google and seems MANY have this same issue. Nice try though, guys. Appreciate the help nonetheless.
