Default Feature Requests (Updated list as of CD 2.5a)

Summary of the issues posted over recent time:

    - Fix the WinTV Tray Icon so it always has the same name for example - "WinTV7 Recording"and
put the name of the recording as "subtext". I'm not sure how you present the subtext. I know it is an option as other icons, such as the network icon, show a second line of text in italics.
    - Set end time for an instant recording
    - Schedule to watch TV rather than record (so it runs wintv7.exe -c:xx)
    - Press Record and then change channels when using multiple tuners
    - Make EPG Searchable
    - Lead in / out in on recordings
    - Ability to extend recording according to the Now/Next info (e.g Football into penalities etc)
    - Ability to assign functions to the scroll wheel
    - Timeshift Backup/Record (keep the timeshift as part of a recording)
    - Series Link
    - Manual DVB Scan
    - Remember position of playback
    - Option when pause buffer set to 0, that pressing pause actually allows an unlimited pause buffer size only when pressing pause
    - Add limited controls in No Title TV Mode or at least add Mute via Menu
    - Set Video window at original resolution e.g. 720x576 (for 1:1 pixel mapping)
    - Schedule XMLTV update
    - Brightness/Contrast/Colour/Gamma Controls
    - Bigger Chanels List in TV Mode.
    - Store EPG data inside recording (or in an extra file with the .TS?)
    - Allow WinTV/TVServer to know what HDD space is available so to take action (like delete some old recordings, only use xxx MB, switch to an alternative location. Communicate between processes
    - TVServer cannot record to network location as it's not logged into the network, but
WinTVTray.exe can - can we have it copy recordings to network location on completion?
    - Have click command only happen on release of mouse, not on click of mouse
    - When pressing Record in LiveTV mode, pull name programme name from EPG not channel name
    - Tick box to auto-remove "Not Found" recordings
    - Give a warning when trying to shutdown the pc while a recording is in progress or when a recording is scheduled within the next X minutes/hours (configurable)
    - Make the winTV settings pop-up window resizeable

    Favourites:
    1. Allow sorting by name and channel number in the source panel.
    2. Allow filtering by name and type (Radio, TV for example) in the source panel
    3. Give the facility to tune in to channels in the source panel and watch them while staying in the favourites window.
    4. Some users will add more than one group of favourites. Allow the "default" one to be flagged by the user so that this will automatically be displayed as the channel list when WinTV starts.
    5. Allow the user to decide the presentation order of the channels in a favourites group.

    - In normal viewing mode can you enable the left hand corner so that the window is resizeable by clicking in the left hand corner and dragging the window. If you're left handed grabbing the right hand corner and dragging it rightwards is more awkward than dragging leftwards.
    - When using Titan TV, for schedulijng: display popup when newly selected program conflicts
with previously scheduled program (as in version 6). When recording programs, name file after program name (as in version 6) rather than after channel name.
    - Lock Keyboard input
    - Add a Super Advanced Options Tab for undocumented features

Add the possibility to minimize the window down to the taskbar again, when the application is clicked on the taskbar.
Every Windows application can be brought up when you click the taskbar (WinTV can also do that) and can be minimized again, when clicked on the taskbar (WinTV can't do that).

Any chance to add an "encode-on-the fly" feature?
If WinTV notices that either Xvid or x264vfw are installed and if a >1_core CPU is found, you can choose the encoding presets using the encoder's nice GUI (otherwise you could just add x264.exe and xvid.exe in WinTV setup), and then it could start encoding at selected bitrate whatever you are watching on WinTV almost in real time. Of course the realtime-ness will depend on CPU speed.

There is no chance we'd build in that functionality, since we dont supply encoders with our software, and would have no control over whether it works well or not. We also dont supply the decoders that would be required for playing the converted files. You'd also loose the ability to watch in-progress recordings etc, loose subtite and multiple audio streams etc, making it not worth doing.

That said, we have already added enough that you can roll your own (non supported) solution for converting recordings to a different format by specifying the <AutoConvertExe> and <AutoConvertArgsWithVideo> in the settings.xml, which can be used to give you the same end result.

Sounds great, thanks. Where should I put the encoder? I tried with C:\Program Files (x86)\WinTV\WinTV7 and nothing happened.

You can put it anywhere you like, then specify the full path to the executable in <AutoConvertExe>.

You specify the encoder command line parameters in <AutoConvertArgsWithVideo>, but will place [SOURCE_FILE] where you need the file name.

Thanks, I specified the full path to a recent ffmpeg build, but still nothing happend.
The command line seems to be already fine (-i [SOURCE_FILE].ts -f dvd -acodec copy -vcodec copy [DEST_FILE])

    build info
    Code:
ffmpeg version N-40640-g5edd4fc Copyright (c) 2000-2012 the FFmpeg developers
      built on May 13 2012 17:58:59 with gcc 4.6.3

Rather than continuting the discussion here, post a thread in the support forum, along with your wintv7rec.txt and I'll take a look.

I'm not sure where to put this: but here goes.

EPG to be a fully seperate thread/program to the main wintv. If you have a sat card added, it can take a good 3 to 9 mins to it fully populate and it for me it causing wintv to freeze!

It would be great to let us use LAV filter / LAV CUVID / ffdshow for h.264 decoding. I still wonder why all other applications in my computer are able to use those decoders and wintv is stuck with arcsoft-I-install-when-I-want codec.
