    Default Remote Control

I have two of the remote controls, I previously bought an internal PCI-E x1 winTV card that came with one, and now the HD-PVR. My problem is frustrating, I used to be able to use the remote control to control windows media player, start and control Media Center, etc. I reinstalled Windows recently and now I can't use the controller to do anything. I've tried every possible combination of starting media player, restarting the IR; stopping the IR, starting media player, starting the IR; starting the IR then starting media player, I cannot get it to work! It's maddening.

My question is this, has anyone else had problems with this, could it be a result of the driver upgrade? I doubt it would be, but is that a possiblity. How should I go about trying to make this work again, I rather enjoyed controlling my computer from across the room, and I'd like to be able to listen to music while I'm sitting in my living room (cleaning, making some random electronic gadget [I like to mess with stuff like that], etc.) To my knowledge, you don't have to have the blaster plugged in for this to work, right? The blaster just retransmits a signal in a different format (code?), so I've unplugged that, since I'm not trying to control a set top box.

Can someone please help me! I'll be so thankful.

Ok, so I'm still having a problem with this, and I usually try everything I can before I ask for help, so consider this a bump, I really do need help.

It's likely the Media Player window name has changed.

    edit C:\windows\Irremote.ini

    see this section

    [Windows Media Player]

[Windows Media Player] needs to be the exact window name. What version of Media Player do you have? You also need to ensure windows Media PLayer has focus.

I am brand new so this is p[ossibly in the wrong section. I have just purchased the WinTV -HVR-1100 PCI Board. Is it possible to obtain a manual for the Remote control or operating instructions for it.as I am having problems getting it to operate.
I am supprised that no information appears to be available as I am sure that many people have had the same initial problem
