I was going to make a plugin for MVP skins, but as you know that takes time and it would have to work with VLC to really get it smooth. So I found some tools online that can take let you decided what you want to save and view off youtube.
Amaze Flash Video FLV Downloader

The that works is you would use Amaze Youtube Browser looks a browser for only Youtube. By default it points to www.youtube.com.
You can search for content you want to view.
Just view the video to the end and the click on save video. The image above is not what the final program 1.1.50 looks like.
Now it saves everything in FLV (Flash) there are ways to get that to work on MVP.
Eventhough Amaze has converters they don't see to work right. You can give it a shot Here is more of what they have for free. http://www.amazebrowser.com/screenshot.htm
Pazera has some free tools that uses FFMPEG to convert the FLV to AVI or MPEG2 it does work out great. I was able to watch some WonderWoman spin clips on the MVP.
FLV to AVI Converter (free)

The one I now use more it's not for free called Moyea YouTube Converter, saves it to MPEG2 and AVI an then I can play it right away on the MVP. Just drop the URL into the program and click on convert an that's about it! Quality is as good as you see on Youtube High Quality.
