View Full Version : No Signal Channel 4 HD!

Hi,
I've been using WinTV 7 with a Nova S2 HD for a while & love it. I have just noticed a problem though. I've came to record something from Channel 4 HD and noticed there is no signal. I've rescanned twice & still get a black screen. It seems to tune & buffer but I just get a black screen & recording returns a file of about 124Kb.
Any ideas would be much appreciated. Oh, I'm using version 2.3g with a custom XMLTV file for the EPG. Would upgrading solve it? I'm just not very encouraged by the problems others are having with 2.4.

Can't believe I didn't see that, I'm normally up to date with things when it comes to channels moving. Thanks Subminiature. :)
Any chance of an updated channel list with the new frequencies in at any time or are they already in the list available on the site?

I knew that C4 HD had changed (it's the first Freesat channel to use the recently launched Astra 1N satellite). However re-tuning still doesn't pick it up as I don't think 1N is being looked at. Is there anything else we need to do in order to include 1N?
PS: I'm using an HVR 4000 running 2.4d.

Tech Support suggest that 2.4d fixed this with changes in the 'scan process'. I have gone back to 2.4c as 2.4d crashes scheduler. But from the last comment from Camberly_Chris it doesn't work in 2.4d either.

Okay. So I've solved the problem.
Thanks to alanhewitt who was a huge help in pointing me in the right direction. All you need to do is open up (on Windows 7) C:\users\public\wintv and find the satellite.xml file.
Then go to this thread:
http://www.hauppauge.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?22706-Channel-4-HD-move-to-Astra-1N
Download the satellite.xml file provided & scan "FREESAT ONLY" or "ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" again. If you don't fancy over copying just open up the file using notepad or notepad++ and add in:
<transponder frequency="11126000" symbol_rate="22000000" polarization="V" fec_inner="2/3" broadcast_type="DVB-S2" modulation="8PSK" pilot="-1" rolloff="35"></transponder>
Inside the "FREESAT ONLY", and the "ASTRA 2, EUROBIRD 1" section.
If you already know this & I'm slow, great. If not then I hope it helps someone. Huge thanks to PyeContinental in the other thread for the transponder info.

Has no one tried looking in "Channel 4 HD move to Astra 1N", in the Windows mediacentre part of the forum. There is an updated Sat.xml file submitted by a user. Back up the old one in Shared folders>win tv, and then copy this one in. Then re scan. It appears to work for those who have tried it in windows mediascentre. If it doesnt you can always revert back to the old saved one. it should be worth a try if only 'til an official one is released.

Thanks alanhewitt, I downloaded that satellites.xml file, checked it had an entry for Astra 1N (it did), and so re-scanned using it and picked up Channel 4 HD successfully.

Thanks for the link - I had not seen it posted and it fixed it for me. Still need 2.4e beta or later to fix problems with 2.4d.
