I have just tried to up date my install to 2.4d.
I have been running Win 7 for a long time on a Windows 7 64 bit desk top with some instability issues so thought that 2.4d might have cleared the problem.
Installed the drivers, rebooted and started to install Win 7 application.
Up came the message to ring technical support because the machine was not authorised to install 2.4d.
How could this be it is running v7.0.29209(CD2.4) as I type this message?
Does anyone know what is causing this problem?
Can you post the exact error message? (screenshot?) Are you trying to install on a netbook? Did you have your original CD in the drive during installation?

I cannot paste a screen shot into this message but the software is stupidly suggesting that the machine is a netbook! It is wrongly saying
Netbook PC detected!
Your product has not been authorised for installation by Technical Support. to authorise your product for installation on a netbook PC please call Techincal Support on:
0203405 1727 or 631 434 3197 (US)
Since it is a full desktop with a proper motherboard and all the usual desk top gubbinscore i3 processor, 430 watt PSU, ASUS P7H55-M +motherboard, etc. it appears unlikely that I can authorise it as a netbook. I find it unlikely that running windows 7 64 bit with 4 GB of memory fits the usual profile for a netbood! I find it rather more likely that the authorising routine routine is faulty.
Yes the original CD is in the drive but made no difference.:(
can you post the log file from C:\program files\wintv\wintv7\wintv7.log please and I'll check out why.

can you post the log file from C:\program files\wintv\wintv7\wintv7.log please and I'll check out why.
The only file is in program files (x86) but the log file is dated with yesterday's date and not only have I run Windows 7 earlier version today but I also tried to install 2.4d today as well but th log file does not appear to have updated. Something appears less than well.
I hope/trust that some thign appears to be the cause of the issue.
Is your d:\ drive working ok? I see this was the drive used previously to install, but it doesn't seem to have found it in the recent install.
It found it back in August (08/30/2011 19:56) but on the recent install.
If you install CD 2.4 again over the top does it work or give a similar errror?

Thank you for spotting that issue! I had used the drives only an hour or so before I first tried to update WinTV7 and had not tried to use the drives [which of course appear on boot up] since.
You were right a very recent update, possible from Apple had destroyed the correct registry entry for both disk drives and installed wrong upper and lower filters. This caused a code 19 error. The 'automatic' fix from Microsoft was useless and in the end I had to edit the registry to correct the error.
WinTV7 has now installed this morning and I am hopeful that this is an end to all of my issues.
Thank you once more for pointing out the problem, perhaps a future WinTV7 update might suggest that the CD/DVD drive is not available or that the user is working with a Netbook?
I am sorry that I assumed that the problem was with WinTV7.
glad you got it sorted - I'll see if I can clarify the message for the next release.

I got the same error as this person posted. Also my machinw is not a netbook. It is a win7 pro 4gb ram dual core machine. Live TV configured in MCE, but WinTV failed to install from CD or from binary obtained on your support site. I am attaching the log. Help please!
what drive letter is your cd-rom drive?
does it work?

It was d: I think.it's a USB drive. It works well since that was how it read the disc to launch the setup. When I tried just the binary downloaded from here ,the USB disc drive was not plugged in. Looking at the log I saw the same error code for each failed installation. Any ideas what that error code is linked to? Thanks!
install from the latest web download, have your USB CD drive plugged in and put your original CD in the drive - this should work fine

I am also having this same issue. I don't have a CD ROM on my computer, anyway to install without one?

Borrow one from a friend ? It does mention on the box that you need a CD drive for software installation and your not using a netbook.
