Dear all,

I have a Colossus card, with the latest drivers (29263 update) and latest version of WinTV.

I need to encode composite video from a source that is quite noisy.
The thing is that the deblocking filter of the H264 encode process makes the result video quite blurry.

I have modified the settings of the 'Best' profile through the appropriate registry settings to get an average bitrate of 16Mbps.
That helped.

But the video is still a bit blurry.
I tried to modify the "Hauppauge Colossus Capture 0" filter using GraphEdit and under "Video Proc Amp" I could see settings such as Brightness, Contrast and Saturation.
There is also a Shapness setting, but is greyed out so I cannot change it.

By the way, I also tried to do the following:

1. Open regedit and change some values in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Hauppauge\TVServer\Pro camp
(I set "Brightness" and "Sharpness" to 100, just to do a test) (I read in another post that accepted values range from 0-100, with 0 meaning "do not set procamp for this setting")

2. Reboot the machine

3. Did a test recording to check if above procamp settings do anything

... But no luck. WinTV seems to ignore those registry settings.
Then again I can change Brightness, Contrast and Saturation using GraphEdit and opening the propery page of the "Hauppauge Colossus Capture 0" filter, but I need to change Sharpness, which is greyed out.

Is there a way to tweak the Sharpness so that I can try to get a less-blurry encoded video?
Under normal circumstances I would not need to change the sharpness but then again my source material is a bit special and the noise makes the h264 encoder apply heavy deblocking.

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
