The TV Guide window's text area has a fixed size. If the show's description does not fit. one has to either maximize the window or select the description text with the mouse and drag past the end of the visible text, to force the text to scroll down. A vertical scroll bar would be more practical and would serve as an indication that there is more text to view.
I've also seen cases where the show's title is longer than the window size of the TV Guide. I don't know if it would be possible to attach a horizontal scroll bar to it, as well.
