Loss of IR control since adding HVR1700

During all my messing about to finaly get the HVR1700 and Nova HD S2 to work together ive been using all the mouse/keyboard to control the PC. Ive just found that the IR control no longer works. Ive looked in the 'tray' near the clock for the IR icon but its not there. So i looked in the Hauppauge folder in the 'all programs' list and the IR software isn't there.
I dont want to use the WMC control that came with the HVR1700, Infact i have just removed/disabled WMC as it meant WinTV7 reported no tuner and extend also reported the same when it had been run and required a reboot to I presume 'drop its hold' on the cards.
SO how do I get the IR control back that is plugged into the Nova card??

If you know what rack mount systems you will understand the next bit.
I have my amp, graphic, compressor and cable box all rack mounted, I spent a lot of time making 1U rack unit with with all the PC bits I need access to ie, Multi card reader, 2x USB 3 ports, DVD recorder, Power switch, Bluetooth for the keyboard and the IR unit that came with the Nova card. This is all set in what was my fire place with the TV on top and PC behind.. so adding the WMC remote unit really isnt an option, ohh and I couldnt get it to control the virgin cable box, it just kept asking me to press 1 on the original remote. Ive had enough and just want it all to work...

Thanks Mr X will that enable me to use the original IR control/re install the software then?

Whilst I do just want it to work I also like to understand what has happend and how this sorts it.

Basically that registry setting tells the IR software which device to look for. The registry setting always relects the name of the last device installed, so it was looking for the IR interface on your HVR-1700. Making the change Mr X suggested above (and then rebooting) will force it to use the IR interface on the Nova HD S2.

OK been to reg edit and it is already set to what you say. Im running Win7 64 home premium.

to be clear, I m binning the media center stuff. I just want to go back to the original controler that came with the Nova card as this is all set up in my Logitech remote. The main issue I see is that there is not anyform of Nova IR software installed (there used to be a tray icon for the Nova IR software and also a program in the 'Hauppague all programs' bit)
The order I installed the cards was the HVR1700 got it working (didnt try the remote), removed the card then fitted the Nova card and installed it all got it up and running (didnt test the remote) shut down and added the 1700 card.

Got them both running, spent a whole day sorting channels, sat down to watch something and found the orignial Nova remote to not function. I THEN plugged the media centre Ir RX unit tried to configure it but gave up. SO just want to get the original remote working now.

Loosing the will now.... how do i get the original Nova HD S2 card Ir working again.
I have unplugged the win media remote unit that came with the HVR1700
I've 'removed' media centre
installed the new CD2.4b (lost extend in the process)
The reg setting was already set as per your advice.
I still dont see the 'tray' icon for the Ir or the program in the all programs list.

Cheers... Ill have a go when ive watched this film. Im pretty sure its going cure it. Im sure you can tell from past post I like to know why not just the cure.
I had a look through the device manager as when I installed the CD2.4b it 'found new a new device' and asked me if i wanted it to install it (I didnt catch what it was but think it was the Ir on the Nova card) in device manager it listed a Hauppauge Ir device.
I also noticed it had another Hauppauge unused device, im sure this used to be something else (poss the reason extend doesnt work now?)
