From the moment i installed 4 GB of memory (was 2 GB) there is a peculiar problem on my PC, Asus 5PK-SE mobo, CPU E4500 @ 3 GHz, Windows 7 x64. After a few minutes, the NT Kernel & System process uses more and more CPU power untill the tv software crashes, both in Windows Media Center and with WINTV. I tried a recent Hauppage driverinstead of the Microsoft driver. Once 1 or 2 GB of memory is removed the problem is solved, I've even tried different memory modules from a comparable PC. Another WIN7 x64 installation on a SSD instead of the HDD in the same PC gives exactly the same problem. Sometimes the problem disappeares after 1 or 2 reboots and then comes back the next day. Is there a solution to this problem, i couldn't find any with the problematic searchengine of this forum. Thanks.

What card do you have?

Hi Mr. X, it's a WinTV-HVR-1110 (see my profile). The card stops working in both WINTV7 and Windows Media Center. Now i have 3 GB installed the problem is gone, but i need those 4 GB. The attachmentfunction of this website does not work on IE9 or Chrome HTTP-fout 500 (Internal Server Error).

Are you using the very latest driver:

http://www.wintvcd.co.uk/drivers/HVR-1110_1_40_1_29169_SIGNED.zip

This should work fine with over 4Gb RAM. Two of my test PC's have 8Gb and 6Gb respectively and work fine in there.

I also have had this problem i have Asus P7P55DE-PRO motherboard 4GB Ram with WinTV-HVR-1110 i'm using the latest driver and WinTv software
This has always happened with Windows Media Center and WinTv software no matter what drivers are used.I used to have Asus Striker Extreme Motherboard and all would work perfect at all times but i had to upgrade my motherboard in 2010 and got the Asus P7P55DE-PRO and it has always had the same problem as above every time sometimes it would run ok for a few hours and other times would crash after few min only way to get working again was a reboot then same problem again.
I have not tried with only 2GB as i need all 4GB Memory
Its either a memory problem or Motherboard problem from Asus
note there was never any problems with previous Asus Striker Extreme Motherboard
Only Asus P7P55DE-PRO which i have now so can you find out if any problems with asus motherboards as looks as if Motherboards from last 2 Years having this problem

After Googling a bit the 4 GB problem seems to be a very well known issue with older Hauppage-cards on Windows 64 bit systems (strange no one knew this on this board). Hauppage is not going to fix it and you should buy a newer card, that's their solution.
Apart from removing 1 GB bank of memory out of your computer there are 2 other ways to reduce the total system memory, disabling Memory Remapping in the BIOS or reducing the maximum memory from 4096 to say 4095 MB in the Systemconfiguration (MSConfig), Computer boot tab, advanced options. In both cases there will only be left 3327 MB (3,25 GB) of memory after reboot.

This was an issue with the PVR-150/500 which was only released as a 32-bit driver. None of our current HVR or NOVA boards should have an issue.

Windows 7 64 Bit with PCI TUNER Hauppauge Hvr 1100 will not work with 4 GB of memory or more it will frezze from time to time it supports only 3 GB or less to work proper.
This is due to memory resources limit of any PCI device.
You can use any PCI Express tuner as its can use more than 4 GB OF MEMORY
So only use either a USB Tv Tuner or a PCI Express Tuner if you have 4GB or more
Hauppauge need to update product info so people know this

ok i installed extra 8gb of memory total 12gb and done a full clean install of windows 7 64 bit and i did not have tv card installed,I used windows media center for other features without tv,I then installed tv card hvr 1100 and used the Windows Media Center driver installation package from usa site, there was a problem with playready would not update this had same problem as usual frezze etc i then changed file by adding old to playready file name and then windows updated playready all ok,then i used tv in media center with no problems, i then updated to latest drivers hauppauge drivers seperate download not the drivers in wintv7 package, and then installed latest win tv 7 and now i have no problems at all wintv 7 and media center both are working perfect,When playready updated it removed SoftMCE,
Try this if your having problems with the hvr 1100 card note its would help if your running windows 7 64 bit to have at least 6-8 GB OF MEMORY as more and more programs with 64 bit support will use more memory than 32 bit and as hvr 1100 does not have hardware acceleration will require more memory than 3gb and 4gb in windows 7 64 bit will cause problems if you dont install at least 6-8gb and check the playready in media center,
it may have been luck but using this way to install the card in the way i did solved all the problems running over a week now with no prolems

I never was able to fix the problem, but since i installed Windows 8 lately the problem seems to be solved, 4 GB in use now without trouble. When i boot my pc with Windows 7 the problem the problem comes back.
