View Full Version : Missing Hotbird satellite channels/transponders/frequencies!

Hi, Sorry to be such a pest today but I thought I'll ask about a few things I always wanted to.

I used to pickup some channels I liked on Hotbird before but ever since a previous WinTV7 update they disappeared and were never picked up again in the scans!

I looked at the satellites.xml and I think that there are some frequencies/transponders missing there for hotbird 13.0E. In particular transponder #76 (12225.00 V 27500 3/4) carrying those channels on this page here:

http://en.kingofsat.net/tp.php?tp=1157

Is there a way to add this frequency to the satellites.xml manually? and is it possible that you can include all the transponder frequencies of Hotbird in the next release of WinTV7?

Thanks.

There is an updated Satellites.xml in CD 2.3f

you can just edit the satellite.xml in notepad and add/edit any frequencies you like though.

Thanks,

I managed to add the frequency manually, did a scan and missing channels appeared again :)

One last question though. In satellites.xml at the bottom of each satellite (Hotbird) frequencies some of them are repeated with extra settings like:

<transponder broadcast_type="DVB-S2" fec_inner="2/3" polarization="H" symbol_rate="27500000" frequency="11373000" rolloff="35" pilot="-1" modulation="QPSK"/>

Is this like fine tuning for certain frequencies? and what is rolloff and pilot?

These are tuning parameters required for certain cards. The HVR-4000 and NOVA-HD-S2 require these values, the HVR-4400 can automatically work these out.

Did 2.3f find all the required channels now?

Hi.
No it was not included in 2.3f! There were other additions but not that one. Anyway I added it manually and also added the tuning parameters for that transponder. It works ok but signal seems very week and cuts out but maybe that is the transmission problem. One thing I am happy about in v2.3f is that for the first time and finally hardware acceleration & EVR is working well and CPU usage on HD channels is very low. Thanks.

this is fixed for the next release. The entry had the wrong symbol rate.
