View Full Version : Defective Nova-TD USB ?

Having a good experiences with my HVR-2200, I bought Nova-TD for laptop.

After installing drivers and putting it to two tuner mode, I've done some initial scans with no success (nothing found).

A friend then told me about the tool (from this forum) for manual scanning. So I gave it a go. On two different locations, different country, more than 200km away (and 3 sub-locations on each of the two), I couldn't find any channels (doing a full frequency scan).

I'm using an amplified room antenna which I have put: 1. inside, 2. outside the window, 3. on the balcony. Both 2. and 3. on both locations have almost unobstructed air view to the emitter.

I don't understand what else might be wrong but the card being defective in some way. But maybe you can point me to something to confirm that. If it helps, the light on the card is blue on first diode for most of the time. I've seen it go in "both diode yellow" mode occasionally.

Thanks for the help!

PS. Oh, this is from the scanning tool logs:

# locking 530000, 8
# signal locked = N present = N strength = 0 quality = -100
...
...same for every single channel.

Cheers! :)

Does the HVR-2200 work in the same location with the same aerial?

Normally I use 2200 for analog cable signal only.

I will check for DVB-T signal but only on one location since 2200 is installed in HTPC. And before I can get back to you with the information, I'll have to grab additional coax cable since I doubt I'll be able to put HTPC out on the balcony (like I did with laptop) :P

In that case it's probably reception related.

What country are you in? Do you have a roof aerial to test it on? How far is the nearest DVB-T transmitter (do you know?)

Few updates :)

First, my HVR-2200 in HTPC caught a signal with the same room aerial on the balcony, where Nova-T-TD had no signal at all.

Then, for the final test, I tried Nova with roof aerial at my parents house. I got the signal so the card is not defective after all, but I must say I'm little disappointed with Nova-T-TD tuner(s). As it's currently unusable for me at any location.

What country are you in out of interest?
