How do I enable WinTV 7 to use both the back inputs as well as the front inputs on my PC? I could do this using WinTV 6 but WinTV 7 only sets up 1 channel for Composite/S-Video, and it's the back connection.

I am using an HVR-1600 in an HP desktop.

Any help?

Sorry, but its limited to the single set of inputs at this stage. Support for the additional inputs is on our to-do list though.

That's what I was afraid of. It's disappointing that software that is supposed to be better than the prior version actually has fewer features than before.

However, since I appear to be out of luck when it comes to the front inputs using 7 (at least for now), I re-installed version 6.

While the software works just fine, I noticed that it installed a driver version dated in 2008, while the version that shipped with Windows 7 is dated in May of 2009. When I try to update the driver to the latest version, I get black and white pictures on everything. This includes Media Center. The only way to fix the issue is to clear everything from WinTV (drivers and application) and allow Windows to re-install the driver.

Is there any way to use the latest driver in WinTV 6?

Thanks

Its got a hell of a lot more features. We dont claim to have every feature from every previous version of WinTV however. After all, WinTV7 is a new app, and unrelated to previous versions of WinTV, and we opted to focus on adding the most important features first, and other less important features will be added later.

Some of the bigger ticket new features include:

- multi device support
- support for new HD broadcast standards being introduced around the world (H.264, HE-AAC, E-AC3 etc)
- integrated FM radio
- integrated Teletext
- integrated DVB subtitles
- simplier configuration and setup screens
- always ready to pause/record etc (with out long delays to switch modes ala WinTV6)
- integrated scheduler
- ability to record in the background with WinTV UI needing to run
- ability to record without user being logged in
- ...etc...

Given you're about the second person to ask about this feature in the last year or so, it sounds like we got the priority of this feature about right. It is on our to-do list though, so it will be added.

Is there any way to use the latest driver in WinTV 6?You should be able to download the latest driver from http://www.hauppauge.com/site/support/support_hvr1600.html. I cant think of any reason why the driver you tested would be black or white. If the previous driver was working fine for you, stick with it (the old 'if it aint broke...')

Perhaps I phrased my response incorrectly. What I should have said was that it's a shame that a newer version has been released without what I consider to be key functionality from a prior version. In light of your response, it appears I may be in the minority on this.

Since you are marketing WinTV7 for the majority, I suppose I will have to live with the old version until front A/V support is introduced. Still, it sure seems to me that more people would want this feature, so I am very surprised that I am only one of two people asking about it.

In any event, I do appreciate the quick response to my questions in the forum, so thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

You'll be pleased to know that its not far off being implemented now, so you wont have too much longer to wait.
