low profile for HTPC and Sky

I am looking at building a HTPC and need a low profile or even USB winTV. I would like to use Windows media centre as I want to programme it to record whole series of programmes - a bit like sky+. I am not sure if this is possible

Do you need to change the channel on the sky box manually or will the EPG change it automatically.

If you connect a DVB-S card to your satellite dish via it's own cable to the LNB, you will be able to view and record 'free to air' channels such as the BBC, ITV families.

Viewing the encrypted channels such as Sky 1 is much more tricky.
