Seems a simple question but...

If this sounds stupid....
I'm getting very confused with analogue v digital. My SKY box is a digital receiver, no? So the signals coming in to it (and, presumably from it) are digital. And yet, people here (who obviously know a lot more than I do about these things) seem to be saying that the SKY signal needs an ANALOGUE tuner, not a digital.
Huh?
Is this correct?
If so, I can just buy a tuner that does analogue and not bother about digital, as I'm never going to be using Freeview or anything like that.
If someone could clarify that for me I'd really appreciate it, as it would make the task of deciding what to buy that much easier..

There are different types of digital. DVB-T (digital terrestrial - Freeview), DVB-S (digital satellite - Sky), DVB-C (digital cable), ATSC (American digital terrestrial). Sky is a closed system and you cannot capture it natively in DVB-S format - therefore you need an analogue card to capture the decoded analogue output from the Sky box.

The digital signal is captured by the Sky box itself, then the output cable (SCART) is actually outputting an Analogue Signal, this is why you need an Analogue tuner.

Great! Thanx guys, that really sorts out my confusion.
One more thing: should I connect from the capture card to the SKY box via SCART (need an adapter) or the coax cable? Which would you recommend?
