Default TV Guide completely blank.

Short Version: My TV guide is blank, but everything else works perfectly.

Longer Version: My TV guide is blank, but everything else works perfectly.

Quad-core 3.6 GHz

4BG DDR Dual Channel

Win TV v7.0.27161
-Standard Cable NTSC from Comcast

MS .Net v3.5

Direct X 10

GeForce 9800 GTX 1GB DDR

Vista Business (Build 6001)

OK, I work with computers as a network engineer for a living. Everything on my computer, from 3dStudio to GTA IV, Warcraft, etc...ALL of them work perfectly.

I have checked all of my drivers, scoured the net for clues, uninstalled and reinstalled Win TV countless times. I cleaned the regersity a few times just to be sure nothing was left behind before reinstalling. I even went as far aas reseating the card in a differnt slot.

Sorry, thats normal for the US and Canada. Outside of the North America you'd get the TV Guide. To avoid any confusion we're hiding the TV Guide screen for North American users in the next release.

In that part of the world you can use TitanTV as an alternative though, and it'll schedule recordings in WinTV.

What does one do when the local cable service is not listed as an option? We have three Comcast services in our area, with different channel line-ups, our local one is not on the list.

Thanks,
Juergen

Any way that we could get the new 'TV Guide' link to take us to the appropriate Titan listing page in NA?

As others have said, there are many channel line-ups available here, and it would be nice not to have to look for a needle in a haystack every time we want to see whats on, or schedule a recording.

If you login to TitanTV, and tell it to remember you, it'll always show you channel lineup as soon as you go to www.titantv.com, so looking for a needle in haystack isnt required after your first visit.

I am fascinated to learn that you get the TV guide outside North America. I live in France and use the (SKY) Astra 2 Satellite. And I do not.

The "EPG" features are in place, but they are completely useless. They show the current program and (if you are lucky) the next program on about 5% of the available channels. They show nothing for the others. Which is of course useless for "in advance" scheduling of recordings and also useless for planning the evening's viewing. Also, there are no supporting program content details, all you get is the title.

I took a look at TitanTV. Trust me, North Americans - you are getting a better deal than us!

I have actually used XMLTV grabber software to download the XML schedules onto my PC ... but I am blowed if I can find any documentation that will help me to use the file to seed the Hauppage EPG database (wherever it is).

So if anybody can tell me how to seed the Hauppage offering with the data I already have - or an alternative EPG data source, I will be delighted. Presuming it stretches forward several days and contains content details as well as start and end times.

Its really down to your broadcaster who decides what listings they're transmiting. It sounds like yours unfortunately is only transmitting now next. Many countries transmit a full seven days of listings..

Sorry, but this TV Guide screen is solely for the DVB EPG. Unfortunately your broadcaster is not transmitting this, so get no EPG (other than now/next).

Freesat's transponders do not carry the EPG in a standard format. The only thing that is standard is the Now/Next data, therefore it is not possible to get the full 7-day EPG in WinTV 7. Freesat's EPG is only intended to be used on receivers carrying the official Freesat logo. Some software can obtain the full EPG, but this is a result of reverse-engineering. I doubt that a commercial company such as Hauppauge will (or can) go down this route.

What we need is XMLTV support in WinTV 7. That way it will be possible to use an external EPG grabber and import the results of that into WinTV.
