I have been using the Vista MCE TV Pack for a while now but I have numerous problems using four tuners, 2 x Nova-T 500 DVB-T cards.
1. MCE frequently fails to recognise the two Nova-T cards so I end up with only 2 tuners (not 4) and scheduled recordings start failing Is there any way I can troubleshoot/diagnose this problem? I can see the devices listed correctly and working in device manager so I am more likely inclined to think this is a Vista MCE problem rather than a driver issue. Any ideas/help appreciated. Thanks Ben |

I had this problem repeatedly before the TV Pack came out and reported it here. Every time I rebooted after installation two more tuners would appear in the registry making it 6 and I would need to re-run Media Center TV setup and work out which were the two new entries in registry that needed tweaking to allow four tuners. In the end I yanked one out and got an HVR-2200 i.e. one PCI pair and one PCI-Express pair and this seems more consistent. However last time the guide suddenly got two of each BBC channel I re-ran setup and it only recognised one of the tuner cards along with the DVB-S tuner on my HVR-4000 but I've given up wasting my life away trying to get this stable.
Come the Humax FreeSat HD-PVR later this month I will probably make far less use of Media Center, particularly as x64 Vista will only allow me to record but not play back BBC HD and the 2 programmes every week ITV can be bothered to show in HD.

I just wanted to add my experiences to this; I have VMC Ultimate and a pair of TD-500 cards and I have never had them running for more than a few days before Windows plays switcheroo with the IDs and then cannot use two tuners. Invariably, the next few recordings fail due to being scheduled on a bad tuner and the whole thing starts to fail.
I can run TV Setup again, but I have to readd all my series and individual recordings, only for it to lose the settings after another few days. Should I not run two Hauppauge cards? Is this a known problem? If the previous poster is correct, Windows can handle multiple tuners from different manufacturers so I would tend to believe that this *is* a driver issue. Any assistance gratefully received, |

I am still having problems with 2 x Nova-T 500 tuners and MCE TV Pack on x64. My main problem is that MCE only recognises one of the Nova-T tuners. Resuming from S3 standby also breaks the configuration, recordings start failing.
Can someone from Hauppage please comment? How do I log this as problem/possible bug? Thanks. |

Can someone post some information on this please?
Can you post the Device ID strings of the devices in Device manager before and after it "breaks" also can you export this reg key (in NT4 format) a) when it's working b) when it stops working c) after you re-set the wizard up to fix it HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Media Center\Service\Video\Tuners

Hardware ID strings:
USB\VID_2040&PID_9951&REV_0100&MI_00 USB\VID_2040&PID_9951&MI_00 USB\VID_2040&PID_9951&REV_0100&MI_00 USB\VID_2040&PID_9951&MI_00 I also see this in the MCE event log: TV tuner encountered an error. (0xc0040524) Nova-DT DVB-T Tuner (Dev2 Path0) which was at 03:00:12 on 20/12/2008. This co-incides with resume from sleep in the system event log. The system has resumed from sleep. Sleep Time: 19/12/2008 23:57:52 Wake Time: 20/12/2008 03:00:02 Wake Source: RTC I've also attached the registry info. Thanks for the info on the formal support route, I'll also try this on Monday. |
